FINCA Impact Finance Appoints New CEO for FINCA Zambia

FINCA Zambia is excited to announce the appointment of Mwewa Besa as Chief Executive Officer to spearhead growth and drive FINCA’s financial inclusion agenda. FINCA Impact Finance is a catalyst for financial inclusion, it comprises of a network of 20 microfinance institutions and banks providing responsible financial services that enable low-income entrepreneurs and small business owners to invest in their futures. With 30 years of global experience, and over 18 years in Zambia, FINCA delivers a double bottom line of social impact and financial sustainability.

Mwewa Besa is a seasoned Banking Professional and a dynamic leader with a proven record of transformational leadership. He has over 15 years’ experience in the Financial Services Industry.

Prior to his appointment as FINCA Zambia Chief Executive Office, Mwewa held the position of Country Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank Zambia Limited, before that, he held various roles at Barclays Bank Zambia PLC, rising to the position of Retail Director in that organization. Other notable roles include Corporate Finance Manager with Pangaea EMI Securities and Manager, Corporate Finance at Lloyds Financials Zambia Limited. He also anchored an Investment program on a live television program on ZNBC Television providing Economic and Capital Market analysis and reviews for the wider ZNBC viewership.

Mwewa holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Oxford Brookes University (UK), a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and a Graduate Diploma in Banking and Financial Services from Boston University (US). He is a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) and is currently Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee for the Zambia Institute of Marketing, which he has previously served in various capacities including that of Council Secretary.

Close to his heart is youth empowerment, Mwewa is the Vice Chairman of Teen Vision Trust, the organizer of the Creating the Future Conference that has helped mentor over 12,000 youths in Zambia.

Mwewa is also the General Secretary of the Zambia Martial Arts Federation an affiliate member of the National Sports Council of Zambia.
